Is Michigan Really Mitt’s Last Stand?

Gotta love the chutzpah of Newt Gingrich.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich hinted Sunday that if rival Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney loses the primary election in his home state of Michigan, he should drop out of the race.

Is Michigan really Mitt’s home state? How many years was he in Massachusetts? And really, considering how long he’s been running for president, you could almost call New Hampshire his home state too. ;-)

So, since Mitt never held any office in Michigan, we’ll call that his home state because he was born there. Never mind Mitt did most of his private equity work in Mass and then spent a lot of time in Utah “saving” the Olympics. Ok Newt, we’ll just play along and mark it Michigan because it suits you.

The idiocy of running for president.

Why Aren’t Republicans Leaning On Obama More?

I mean even Ron Paul is beating him in polls.

The Republican with the biggest lead: Ron Paul, who would defeat Obama by 7 percentage points, 49 percent to 42 percent. Rick Santorum, winner of the 2012 Iowa caucuses, leads Obama 48 percent to 44 percent. Mitt Romney, edged in the caucuses by Santorum, leads Obama 46 percent to 44 percent.

The president defeats only Newt Gingrich, 51 percent to 37 percent.

I don’t even like Ron Paul and he’s able to beat the current occupant. The republican primary should be all about how horrible Obama is and how you’re going to fix it. Nothing more and nothing less. This isn’t rocket science.

The Economy IS The Most Important Thing This Election

And if you don’t think so, then please take a look at the following graph. It shows the current debt for the US under the current rules for government spending.
US debt

You’ll note that debt never goes down under current spending plans.

James Pethokoukis has a post about a different chart that is equally as damning of government spending. He quotes Tax Cheat Timmy who was testifying before congresscritters.

GEITHNER: You could have taken [the chart] out [to the year] 3000 or to 4000. [Laughs]

RYAN: Yeah, right. We cut it off at the end of the century because the economy, according to the CBO, shuts down in 2027 on this path.

Just let that one sink in.

The economy goes up in flames like Athens did in 15 years.

You know that years 11-15 will be no piece of cake either. And yet, the most important thing that blogosphere and the twitterverse can go on about is skirt length. Are you freakin kidding me?

This economy is in shambles because of the current occupant of the White House. Newt, in a fit of pique because he’s a politician goes after Romney for his capitalist history. Can anyone explain why a purported republican is doing that? I mean other than desperation at trying to get political power?

Let’s try another chart.

Participation employment rate

We have the same amount of people in this country working today as we did in about 1980. And we’ve got what, an extra 50-100 million people? You’ll note that participation never rose while HRH The Sun King handed out my tax money to his cronies.

And Obama isn’t being hammered on this every day because? Oh yeah, politics. Someone has to get elected, damn the consequences to the country. That’s the feeling I’m getting from the poor primary season going on. If you republicans keep this up, you’re going to lose what should be a walk in election. And kill the country at the same time.
